Chasqui: revista de literatura latinoamericana publishes scholarly essay on all aspects of Latin American cultural studies, although its primary commitment remains literature. Especially encouraged are submissions on newer areas of Latin American culture, such as photography, performance art, urban studies, and ethnic issues. All submissions must be theoretically grounded and appropriately documented. Chasqui also publishes book reviews, book review essays, and film reviews. We publish in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Chasqui is published twice a year. The current Editor is David William Foster. David William Foster is Regents' Professor of Spanish and Women and Gender Studies at Arizona State University. His research focuses on urban culture, with geographic emphasis on Buenos Aires and São Paulo, with particular attention to women's history, the construction of gender and sexuality, and Jewish society. He has held Fulbright fellowships in Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. He has also taught in Chile and Mexico. His current research involves the examination of the major texts of Latin American documentary filmmaking.

SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) - O jornalista Diogo Mainardi disse nesta quarta-feira (10) que desistiu do Brasil e que está de saída dos portais de notícia O Antagonista e Crusoé, fundados por ele e Mario Sabino.

"O plano é me dedicar a atividades mais gratificantes do ponto de vista intelectual e espiritual. De fato, pretendo passar meus dias deitado no sofá, tirando meleca do nariz. Quanto tempo isso vai durar?", questiona Mainardi em sua coluna publicada no site O Antagonista, intitulada "saindo de fininho"

"O trato é permanecer um ano de folga. Pode ser mais, pode ser menos. A única certeza é que vou me abster de comentar a campanha eleitoral, os debates na TV, o resultado do primeiro turno, a festa do vencedor, os nomes dos ministros, as tentativas de golpe, a compra dos parlamentares. Sinto-me revigorado só de ver essa lista", segue o jornalista.

O jornalista afirma ainda que não irá comentar as eleições deste ano.

"Estupidamente, eu havia prometido me atirar do campanário de São Marcos em caso de segundo turno entre Lula e Jair Bolsonaro [pré-candidatos ao Palácio do Planalto que lideram as pesquisas]. A aposentadoria precoce foi o jeitinho acovardado que arrumei para descumprir a promessa", diz.

"É uma espécie de terceira via particular. Minha vida vai virar uma Simone Tebet: estreita, tediosa, supérflua e sem brilho, mas longe daquela gentalha fedorenta que há vinte anos embosteia meu dia a dia", segue o jornalista.

Mainardi afirma ainda que "é preciso renovar o site" sem ele. "Estou gagá. Já fiz o que podia. Ou mais do que podia."

Em maio deste ano, Diogo Mainardi que deixou o programa Manhattan Connection após xingar o advogado Antônio Carlos de Almeida Castro, o Kakay, que era o convidado do programa na ocasião.
